Goodbye My Friend

I wrote this poem in the memory of my Dalmatian's puppy, Scenery.
She had fallen from a staircase and had had a spinal injury which damaged a nerve, causing her hind legs to stop functioning. She would be in a lot of pain and would want to play with the other puppies, but because her legs wouldn't work, she had to sit in the corner with her mother. We would take her to the vet but he'd tell us that there was only 1% chance of her healing. I think he already knew it was hopeless, but he told us to try and not give up. But deep down, we all knew Scenery would have had to depart. We gave her treatment for a week but there was no improvement.
Scenery was put to sleep on 30th December, 2012.

In the last verse I referred to an anonymous quote without realizing it. I wanted it to be completely original, but the verse fit everything so perfectly, I let it stay. I apologize for that. But I hope you like the poem.
